About Syncing Space

Syncing Space is an accessible online space for art making, curating and collaboration.

Syncing Space brings international artists together for a professional residency to:

  • take time to try things out in an online studio, sharing their thinking, experimenting and making new work.
  • take part in leadership and coaching workshops individually and with others to share and develop ideas and confidence to do new things.
  • share work at the end of the residency in a final online exhibition
  • learn and lead on things together

Thompson Hall looks back

My latest painting is inspired from a drawing that I recently made called ‘Relaxed Afternoon in Seoul’, and also from mentoring Pixel, Victoria, Eliph and Lucy on this Sync shorts programme. I’ve found it interesting listening to their ideas every week.

I’m really proud of what the artists have achieved. I think it’s amazing the progress they’ve made in such a short time. It was a real pleasure to mentor the four artists alongside Sarah over the course of six weeks.

Worthing Threads

Great to see Eliph’s work installed at Worthing Museum and open to the public and even better to share a photo of them there in person against the canvas itself. The delicate 3D woven into the canvas was so gentle,  it reminded us a little of Victoria’s Syncing Space work with butterflies leaping off the canvas and in this work, it’s starlings.

Lucy moves and making

It has been a pleasure for Dave Packer and myself to work with Lucy in person at PAW making sure we shape what she wants to explore as part of her residency metaphor which is all about creating the right environments around herself and for herself, so vital a leadership issue for those of us who need how we work and where we work to be a certain way. Great to meet with Katie and Patricia too who supported former resident Charlie Stephens this time last year.
