What the word influence means to me

I have been planning my final work for the exhibition. I have been trying different drawings of me and my boyfriend Thomas under the moon. The moon is the metaphor I liked for me. I have been painting and drawing and collaging.

I have written about what influence means to me. I am thinking about the word ‘inspire’.

Final piece - Moon and Pink Clouds

Today I did session at Venture Arts with everyone. I tried acrylic paints. I like painting a sky with moons like Van Gogh. On top I madepink clouds like Sarah was saying. I liked seeing everyone’s work. I love that one Thompson painted. It’s so good.

Moon Research

The image shows a painting by Salvador Dali of a night sky, with a moon looking over a city. The moon is to the right of the painting, it is yellow with a person's face looking down on the skyscrapers. There are white stars in the sky and high up at the top left of the painting, over the city is another plain white moon. This is me, making my work 'Full Moon'

This is a piece of work showing 12 full moons painted in watercolour and cut out and stuck on to a large piece of mixed media paper with each moon's name underneath. The tile ion the work is 'Full Moon'. each moon has different shades. Some are pink, some blue and grey, some red and pink, others yellow and brown or grey and white.

This is a piece of text Maddi wrote. It is black fineliner on white paper. It reads: 'I Like a different colours of full moons. And it's my type. I used watercolours and I love the shades.'

My Metaphor – The Moon

This is a piece of work I made using chalk pens and oil pastels on black card. It is a drawing of a white moon in the middle of the black paper with the words ' Calm and Magic and Powerful and Bright. The Moon' written around the moon.

This is a piece of work I did when I was thinking about metaphors.

I used chalk pens and oil pastels on black card.

My metaphor is the moon because it is calm, magic, powerful and bright.

I like quiet. I don’t like when people make noise.

I like spending time with my family. I am an artist and a sister and I want to make art to tell people my life.

When I see people feel upset, I feel upset too.

Art makes me feel love.

My mermaid swimming costume

This is a drawing I made using blue carbon paper. It is a blue drawing on a white piece of paper. It is a drawing of me wearing my mermaid costume at the swimming pool.

This is a drawing of me wearing my mermaid costume. I drew is with pencil, sharpie pen, felt tips, pencil crayons and metallic pens. I am dressed as a mermaid at a swimming pool. There main colours in this work are greys, blues, greens. There is also brown and yellow for my hair and the sunshine, which is in the left corner of the work.

This is my work. It is about my memories and my life with my boyfriend Thomas. The work shows 9 boxes with different memories in them. They are all memories of times we have spent together. Each box has a drawing of me and Thomas in different places and times. There are lots of colours in each box. Lots of pinks and browns and golds/yellows. There is some writing and dates next to each drawing, that says things that are important to me about the memories.

This work is called: ‘My Family Life’

This work is about a friendship life.

It’s about me (of course) and my boyfriend Thomas.

It is a big piece of work and it took me a long time to make.

My favourite square in the work is of the love heart at the bottom of the work, in the middle. It is Thomas surprising me, going on a date to Bar Italia at the Lowry Centre in Manchester.

It’s a work about my memories.

I used felt tip pens on foam board to make it.

This work was chosen to be in this year’s Manchester Open 2026 exhibition at HOME, Manchester.
