Welcome to my studio

Behind the Scenes of the Butterfly World Video

We decided to try and make a video for my final exhibition piece. I spoke to Sarah about what I wanted to say in the video and I already had some some ideas in my mind. Then I spoke with Dave about what I wanted it to look like. Dave showed us some ideas such as the zooming in effect and the magnifying glass and the butterflies taking off from the picture. I feel that when I am creating a picture with my vision I am expanding my horizons

I have chosen a magnifying glass as my leadership metaphor. I chose this because when I create my artwork I like to look at things from different perspectives and angles and sometimes pinpoint right in the middle. It feels like my artwork is coming out to me and then going in again. If you zoom in closer on something you can be asking – ‘what am I looking at’? It can make something look different altogether.

Butterfly World

This is the picture that I am working on at the moment. It is bigger than my usual pictures. It is a board that is 122cm x 91cm that I first painted white and then drew all the butterflies using thin black pens. I am now colouring the butterflies and I am thinking about adding something in the spaces inbetween the butterflies too. I have already been working on this picture for a long time.

The Coloured Mix

This is one of my pictures that I did a few years ago. The inspiration for this picture was the shape of the medals that I won for my swimming. I used that shape outline as the start of my design then I thought about the pattern that I should put behind and inbetween the medal shapes.

My Leadership – My Voice

These are my leadership styles

Charismatic

I like being in the spotlight because it makes me concentrate. I go to a drama group called Northern Stars and we put together shows and perform in front of different audiences. I like putting in the time and effort to be able to get it right. That is also how I feel about my artwork. I like to spend time getting it so that I am really happy with it.

Quiet

When I am working on my art, I like to be quiet.

I have a picture in my mind so I know what I am doing and creating and I like to get really deep into my work and I have the patience to do it step by step and know to stop only when it is finished

Transformational

I always want to grow stronger and expand my horizons

River of Tears

Today I met the Syncing Space artists for the first time and it was very relaxing to share our chosen artworks together.
