The Bear Progress

Needle Felting

This is a video of me working with wool for my exhibition project. I’m making a bush for a habitat for a bear. I have only done needle felting once before so it’s still new for me.

What motivates you to make art and be a leader?

I just want to have fun and learn new stuff. People with disabilities should have a platform to help us get our voice out. I like my job at the Nina and the surprised looks when people see the art for the first time and see every person at the Nina smiling. It makes it worthwhile when you can see people on the tour being happy.

Ravens in the River Valley Sculpture

This is going into a show about Edmonton Downtown. I got asked to actually do it by the Nina, it had to undergo another paint job, after an incident. It’s ready to go in the kiln. This piece is based directly off of the Ravens in the River Valley painting I posted earlier. We had to make a slab, then we made the buildings and stuff like that, the grass. We were only able to do one raven, instead of two. It’s about one foot by one foot.  It’s a very small piece compared to most. As you see, also, we put the raven on an actual rock, so we could have the clay supported while it was drying. As well, we had to stick the buildings together, so we stuck everything on.

Ravens in the River Valley

This is one of my paintings. I made it for a show in Ontario, for H’Art space in Ottawa. The show was about rivers. I also put it in my Artist of the Year show. I made another copy of the piece because the first one got sold in Ottawa.

Johnny Hockey Painting Finished

This is a painting of a hockey player that unfortunately, died. He is going to be a legend forever. I find that doing something like this actually makes me more at peace to remember what he was. This photo shows it in its finished form.

Johnny Gaudreau Memorial Piece

This is a painting of a hockey player that unfortunately, died. He is going to be a legend forever. I find that doing something like this actually makes me more at peace to remember what he was. This photo shows it as a work in progress.
