Welcome to my studio

Unity in Diversity

On 20th March two of Lucy’s characters took part in the Exploring Neurodivergence event at Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. Spectrum and Beagle in Blue and Yellow visited the event to meet all the people attending and explore the event. They met lots of great people and enjoyed the event.

Ned the horse

This week Lucy has been working on Ned the Horse costume with the help of Peter.

They made great progress with the structure as it can now been worn and it can move a little.

Leadership Metaphor

As we were talking about leadership metaphors, Lucy thought about animals and environments. She illustrated Dodger the dog finding quiet and calm places, such as the countryside where you can hear the birds singing, or the beach where you can hear the sound of the waves. This combination of animals and calm environments seems to be a metaphor for Lucy’s leadership.

Inspired by Pixel

After our second Zoom, Lucy drew a scene from the animation Brother Bear. The scene depicts the part of the story when the bear is killed and becomes a spirit. It is a powerful moment in which lights and colours shoot out of the bear’s body and into the sky to form its spirit. She was reminded of this image when Pixel spoke about his painting depicting the colours of his family’s spirits leaving their bodies after the plane crash.

All things Mythical and Real

Lucy’s work has recently been shown in an exhibition in Hastings. The exhibition was titled Everything Mythical and Real, a name chosen by Lucy. The exhibition included one of her character costumes: Unimeleon, a cross between a unicorn and a chameleon. It also featured drawings inspired by the TV series MASH, as well as an early animation of her original character, Speedy the Hero Dog Greyhound.

Leadership ideas

Lucy chose three types of leadership style that she felt connected to in some way. We talked about why she felt connected to these styles and made notes around the words. Lucy chose the ‘Quiet Leader’ style because she does not like to be the centre of attention, although some of her characters do. She chose ‘Transformational’ because when she takes on the form of one of her characters, she transforms and takes on their personality. She also chose ‘Collaborative’ because she enjoys working with other people and has illustrated the drawing with people she likes to work with.

first studio session

Hi my name is Lucy, I decided to make my first post about the image I shared in the first studio session with Sarah and the other artists. This is a picture of Spectrum the Autistic Wolf at the Comic Con in Hastings in 2025. I was asked to be an exhibitor there and brought two of my characters. Spectrum is one of the characters I brought to the Comic Con
