This is Izzati's 'Mandala in Squares'. As usual, when she begins on any mandala, the first element she would focus on and draw would be the flower. The flower is supposed to be me, her mama, her mum, in the centre of everything. Once she's happy with the flower, she actually paints the colour in also, not just the outline, but she paints the colour. And just gets that little part done before she continues to the rest of the outer circles of the mandala. In this particular painting, the centre is dark brown, and the petals is red, but with a little bit of glitter in it. And then around it is a turquoise-aqua-green shade. And also that's how she seems to pop out that little red mandala. And then around it. I believe all the colours, she says, represents the other artists because I see her - there's blue, there's purple, there's green, there's the glitter pink, there's red. Yeah, so this is also on the outer layer of the flower. Then we have the other layer of circle. This is where she painted this outer circle twice. She did not mix the colours on her palette, I realise. She actually painted the layer of glitter pink, and then she painted a shade of purple-ish on top of it, so the glitter pink was not so prominent. And then she adds a little glitter with a purple, and then she also has her little flowers going around it, as usual her signature flowers surrounding it. And the next ring - the third ring. The third ring is, I think this is the one that she says represents Sarah, right? And this one, she started with the flowers. First is all about the flowers, yes, she started with the flowers and buds - summer buds. No, full bloom flowers. and then she went on to do the outer square instead. When she finished with the centre flower, the mother flower in the middle, colour and all. Then she started drawing the outlines on the outer edge of this whole mandala - little, little small flowers and buds of the flowers, which was just random. But it was not painted, it was just left black and white. Then she continued with the rest like I mentioned, and then started painting them, putting in the colours. And last was the squares. She's put in the squares, put in the colours. There's more than ten colours here, I believe. Some are mixed. They they're in a riot of pink, red. They're also shades of blue, shades of green, shades of purple. And after she's done with all this - and I think she's done, but she's not really done - because a few days later she started inking in little butterflies that was on the outer ring. It's like they are floating over the flowers. And I thought okay, this is done, but no...a few days ago I saw she painted the butterflies, so now I think it's finally done. So here we are. Izzati is very colourful, so enjoy! Like she says, "I like colourful, it makes me happy. I like people to be happy.
