Crowds of Kuala Lumpur, 2025

The painting is on a large canvas about 2 metres by 1.2 metres hung landscape. The background is built up of a multitude of layered colours in busy brushstrokes, going in every direction. The layers of colour are dark blues, purple, yellow, mauve, pink, fluorescent pink, light blue and light greens on top. The figures are painted on using black outlines in a thin brush. The figures are together in a crowd going about their day lives enjoying the day. They are painted in a very loose and free flowing style in variety of coloured outfits and hairstyles. The figures in the foreground are full length and those going towards the back are part figures and blurring into loose shapes. Some figures at the side of the crowd are half bodies disappearing into the background of colours. The faces you can see are loosely painted and have crosses to describe their features. All the figures seem calm and relaxed. The painting makes me feel very relaxed and calm. When I look at it I feel less anxious as I am an observer.

Malaysia

A3 drawing on paper based on images of Kuala Lumpur. The background has large, loose swirls of colours in reds, yellows and light blues. The figures in the middle of the drawing are drawn with a single black line, looping them all together. They are going in all directions and disappearing into the swirls. They are coloured in bright outfits. Behind them are high rise grey buildings with blacked out windows. They are rising high above the people.
2. A3 drawing in coloured pencil. The background is vertical large looped swirls in red, pink and yellow. In the centre of the drawing is a line of people coming out from the right hand side. They are getting bigger as they come out to the left, so in perspective. The figures are casually walking towards the viewer, with some walking away form you into the background. They look relaxed and are dressed casually in bright colours. The man in the front is carrying a black bag over his shoulder.
A3 drawing in coloured pencil. Vertical loose zig zags of coloured lines in green, yellow, strong red and light blue make up the busy background. Centre and left are drawn a clump of buildings rising up and enveloping a mass of people in front of them. The buildings are light grey with dark grey windows. The figures are drawn together in one line and create a mass of upper bodies all with their backs to the viewer, looking like they are walking and disappearing into the buildings and the swirling background. They are all brightly coloured with the figures becoming a mass of light brown the further away from the viewer and nearer to the buildings they go. It is drawn in one point perspective.
