Combination of Movements

Blending Different Artistic Voices An abstract collaborative painting filled with layered marks, textures and flowing colour. Dots and splashes of colour inspired by Grace overlap with Abraham-inspired spirals and lines, while broad, expressive brushstrokes inspired by Tanya sweep across the paper. Abstract shapes drawn with acrylic markers add further detail. Yellow dominates much of the composition and feels like the contrasting colour to the artist, while the group instead noticed the concentrated blue area near the centre as the strongest contrast. To finish the work, water was dripped and run across the paper, allowing the paint to diffuse, bleed and merge into softer, unpredictable areas of colour.

I created an abstract painting by bringing together marks inspired by different artists. The dots and splashes of colour are inspired by Grace, the spirals and lines are inspired by Thompson, and the large, expressive brushstrokes are inspired by Tanya. I also added abstract shapes using acrylic markers. I see yellow as the contrasting colour, but interestingly, the group saw the blue area in the centre as the strongest contrast. To finish the painting, I dripped water onto the paper and let it run across the surface, allowing the colours to diffuse, bleed and blend into one another.
